Let’s Talk about
Its February!!! the month of love, the month to show love to your loved one, it gives you the chance to express your feelings your affection towards your loved one. Valentine’s Day, the 14th of February, is an annual festival to celebrate romantic love, friendship and admiration. This day enables one to show appreciation through gifts, flowers, chocolates, cards, trips, romantic dinners, jewellery and so many more. Red will be the colour of the day and people will be celebrating the day of love.
People usually ask what is valentine’s Day, where did it come from?
Valentine’s Day is named after Saint Valentine, a Catholic priest who lived in Rome in the 3rd Century. During Valentine’s lifetime, many Romans were converting to Christianity, but the Emperor Claudius II was a pagan and created strict laws about what Christians were permitted to do. Claudius thought that Roman soldiers should be completely devoted to Rome and therefore passed a law preventing them from marrying. St Valentine began to marry these soldiers in private Christian ceremonies and showed them the importance of love.
In the end, Valentine was found out and jailed for his crimes against Claudius. While confined to the prison cells, Valentine cared for his fellow prisoners and his warden’s blind daughter. History has it that Valentine cured the girl’s blindness and that his final act before being executed was to write her a love message signed “from your Valentine”. Valentine was executed on 14 February in the year 270. We now celebrate this day honouring the man who believed in love, that’s how Valentine’s Day came into existence.
Valentine’s Day is for everyone, it doesn’t matter your age, colour of skin, rich or poor everyone can celebrate the day of love. People usually think that it requires a lot of money to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but it’s not like that at all, there is a lot to do which does not require money.

Remember red will be the colour of the day and wear something nice and spent time with your loved ones. And there’s an issue of the ladies having to buy gifts for the man if it’s a leap year. Well most of the ladies I have asked about this are not in favour with this and they were saying the man should also buy the gifts. On the other side, the men insist that it’s a leap year and the ladies should take this platform and buy them gifts. However, everyone should find ways to celebrate this day of love and show appreciation to their loved ones.
