The history of Father’s Day
Father’s’ day is a day set aside to honour fathers or father figures in our lives. In Zimbabwe and most countries around the world, Father’s’ Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June every year. According to some sources, an American woman called Sonora Smart Dodd started Father’s’ Day. Sonora realised on Mother’s’ Day that the day was celebrated with much hype and fathers were not being given much recognition as much as mothers. After being raised by her father after her mother died in childbirth, she decided to set aside a day to celebrate fathers.
Gift ideas for Father’s Day
For Father’s Day, one can get some jewellery just to spoil their father on the day. There are several ideas to choose from, ranging from bracelets, pendants, signet rings or even watches.
Chains and bracelets
A thick Cuban Link chain or a Figaro chain would be a lovely gift for Father’s Day. The chains can come on either gold or silver depending on one’s budget and preferences. A matching chain and bracelet would be a perfect gift.
Pendants
A dog tag as a pendant with a personalised message for your father would be a great gift. The pendant would go well with either of the two chains.
Watches
Most fathers would appreciate a watch as a Father’s Day gift. Watches are still essential fashion accessories for men hence modern men can continue wearing wrist watches. Moreover, if you have a father who often attends meetings then a wristwatch makes it easier to keep track of time during meetings.
