New Year’s resolutions
New year new resolutions, does this really work? Why are we so focused in January with a clear vision of what we want to achieve then by March we have already forgotten about it? How can you finally achieve your new year’s resolutions? Here are a few tips on how to stay focused or stay on track towards achieving your new year’s resolutions.
Set realistic targets
Your resolutions should be realistic and achievable, for example get engaged, lose 30kgs of weight the whole year or buy a car. You cannot make a resolution of buying a house when you do not have the resources to do so. Also, you cannot have a resolution of losing 10Kgs in a month that is just impossible, and it can damage your health if you try it.
Have a detailed plan
New year’s resolutions should be set way before year end lest one makes rush decisions and just makes a resolution for the sake of it without any way of achieving it. If you want to get engaged where will you buy your engagement ring? How will you propose? If you want to buy a car what will be the budget? Will you import the car or buy a secondhand car? Are you going to use your savings or get a loan? If you want to lose weight, which weight loss program are you going to follow? The plan must be well detailed.
Draw up a vision board
A vision board should be placed where it can be seen every day to remind yourself of your goals. This will help you to stay focused on your goals.
Track your progress
Write down your journey in a diary or notebook. Use a calendar and mark off the days you have achieved. If you have lost 5 kgs in 3 months write that down and reward yourself for a job well done. Every progress is good progress no matter how small it is.
Now there you have it, the ball is now in your court, lets gear up and achieve those resolutions…..
