There will always be a good reason to wear jewellery. Therefore it is always good to learn about different types of chains as they are part of jewellery. Learning about different types of chains will help you choose the right one.
Aurex is well known for producing a variety of chain designs, like the solid rope chain, hollow rope, Cuban link chain, Figaro, Gourmette, Venetian, Serpentine, Singapore chain however the Figaro chain is the most popular among the chains. Most customers who come into the shops request for it. They might actually be oblivious to the other chains designs but know the Figaro chain.
The Figaro chain is a popular gold or silver link chain design that incorporates a pattern that lies flat and has 2 to 3 circular regular links with an elongated oval link. The links on the chain vary in size, some smaller and some big on the same chain. It usually has 2 or 3 shorter links alternating with a longer link. The Figaro was inspired by the curb chain, but it was modified to be its own design. At Aurex jewellery we have 2 by 1 Figaro chains that is 2 small links and 1 big link and 3 by 1. This design is repeated throughout the length of the necklace, giving it a decorative look that is not over the top. Links tend to be diamond-cut (beveled), and so reflect the light beautifully. This low-key yet striking design makes the chain a popular choice for men as well as women. The Figaro chain looks great both worn solo or with a treasured pendant such as a cross or crucifix. Men usually wear it with medallions and cross pendant. The thick version of the Figaro is the one that is commonly worn by men, while most women prefer the thinner version of it. We have FIG 40 which is the smallest in size and FIG 200 which is the biggest and worn by men.
The chain originated in Italy and the chainmakers were inspired by the operas The Barber of Seville (by Gioachino Rossini) and The Marriage of Figaro (by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart). Therefore the most famous chains are manufactured in Italy.
The Figaro chains comes in different sizes. One can acquire it as a bracelet (16cm to 22cm), or as an anklet (22cm to 28cm) or as a neck chain (45cm to 60cm)
It is commonly purchased as a neck chain on silver or gold (9karat and 18karat), although we produce it on silver and gold 9k to 22k
