It seems small from a distance, and one would really give it no thought if they have never been within its walls. But don’t they say dynamite comes in small packages? This small cosy smart and flashy looking shop now located at Sawanga mall in Victoria Falls as from December 2018, carries the most precious jewels.
Jewels that have saved and strengthened relationships. Jewels that serve as a symbol of everlasting love such as the infinity rings and pendants. The hearts that never break. Pieces carefully crafted to suit the taste of its consumers who include the ones that have travelled thousands and thousands of miles to get to them.
Brief background on Victoria Falls branch
The Aurex branch in Victoria Falls was opened in the year 2000 strategically located at the Victoria falls Airport. Pioneers of this branch were two young courageous men who introduced the beautiful craftsmanship of the company to the locals as well as international clients. In 2015 the shop moved to Elephant’s walk village. Rumour has it that some local business gurus ridiculed the move as they saw it as a bad idea.
However, business would not be business without risk taking. So, the company took the risk and made strides in the local market and in the process building relations with locals. In 2018 the branch moved to Sawanga mall which made the shop more visible and accessible to the locals. It was as if we predicted Covid-19, as the pandemic soon struck and made it impossible to make any tourist related business for a while and thus our main focus became the local clientele.
The jewellery tales
It is the stories of our local brothers and sisters that make working as a jewellery consultant most interesting. To see their beaming faces as they try out different pieces and fulfilling their jewellery fantasy is the greatest feeling. However, it’s not always happy faces in here. Sometimes we meet sad people who bring back their jewellery for trade ins after different tragedies.
In such instances, a listening ear and words of comfort and courage, become a part of the job.
Every day is one fit to be documented in the company’s history books as every customer that enters has a tale.
For example, the gentleman who just left narrated a story of how Aurex Jewellery has saved his marriage several times. All his apologies had to be accompanied by a piece from us. The guy was so loquacious even mentioning how his own father, during his days, was a ladies man… Another occurrence worth mentioning is how a 3year old relationship that was about to crumble was salvaged by a simple engagement ring from the shop.
I could fill up many pages with the tales occurring inside this tiny space. It is quite an experience!!
