I grew up eKasi, koNtuthu Ziyathunqa, where any man seen to have a keen interest in jewellery was termed a ‘sissy’. All I heard was “real men must be seen where there is some menial work”. Well, that was then, you know the saying ‘when you are in your mother`s kitchen you think her cooking is the best’. Exposure had to bring some illumination.
Men in jewellery
Commonly men wear wedding bands, to symbolize their found eternal love whether voluntarily or not is another story, LOL. I also discovered that across the globe, men also wear friendship bracelets, worn to symbolize bonds between friends. In other cultures, men wear jewellery as a symbol of status and wealth. Think about how male artists like wearing chunky jewellery and how priests from the Vatican dress their fingers with ecclesiastical rings. It’s all those sentiments attached to the pieces of jewellery!
You never get a second chance to make a first impression. How true that statement is. Men have also become fashionable. The clothes you choose, the way you speak, the way you style your hair and the type of jewellery you wear, all combine to make a statement about who you are.
Views and opinions
So just out of curiosity I decided to conduct a mini survey to explore what jewellery means to people in my surroundings. The first person I went to had to be my old man. Well, by virtue of proximity and regardless of the cat fights, I have huge respect for him. There’s some wisdom in the grey hairs. He told me “Son I am not a materialistic person I am sure you’ve noticed but there are some things which are considered priceless in people’s lives such as this ring that I’ve been wearing for 25 years. My heart and your mom`s on my finger”.
Opinion #2, from my brother, my childhood rivalry and friend, a confused relationship like any other siblings. He was like, “my boy no soldier can go for war without his full armor on, that’s how I feel every time I go out without my jewelry”.
My manager told me “a man is as real as his jewellery is. That’s why for quality jewellery I trust Aurex Jewellery. I know at Aurex I can never go wrong with my jewellery; they offer the most authentic and genuine jewellery around. Real men wear real gold!
To rest my curiosity, I had to go to the love of my life, that is, my sister, and get some opinions. She relocated to the USA a few years ago. “Kiddo, well-chosen jewellery can enhance a man’s appeal the same way it can for a woman. Just be careful not to overdo it by wearing too much jewelry at once or pieces that are big and gaudy…., you don’t want too much attention from abo makoti”. We both giggled.
Jewellery as a gift
A gift given reminds us of the giver. When we have a special piece of jewelry given to us by someone, we love Jewelry doesn’t replace the love of course, but it’s a strong physical reminder of that connection. Serendipity I have Aurex Jewellery to my rescue for all genuine, classy, and state of the art jewelry.
Ladies, spoil the man with some class!
